Vertical Futures in Asia: Building Resilient, Livable, and Connected Cities
The CVU 2026 Asia Conference in Jakarta will convene global thought leaders, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how vertical urbanism can shape the next generation of cities across Asia. The conference is expected to attract approximately 500 attendees from the region and across the globe. As one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing metropolitan regions, Jakarta reflects both the promise and complexity of rapid urbanization, including land scarcity, infrastructure strain, climate vulnerability, and shifting social dynamics. Within this context, the conference will examine how cities can evolve beyond increased height and density to become more resilient, more livable, and more intelligently connected urban systems.
The theme will be explored through three interrelated lenses:
Resilience and Sustainability will focus on how vertical cities can anticipate, absorb, and adapt to climate-related challenges through climate-responsive design, advanced building technologies, energy-efficient systems, carbon-neutral strategies, and emerging innovations that enhance long-term environmental performance and urban sustainability.
Livability and Density will examine how vertical cities can be reimagined to improve quality of life, emphasizing human-centered design, mixed-use developments, walkable communities, vibrant public realms, and the integration of nature within the high-density environments to support well-being and social vitality.
Connectivity and Intelligence will focus on how vertical cities can be intelligently designed, operated, and connected through the integration of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), smart city and building platforms, and AI-driven systems that leverage real-time intelligence, data interoperability, adaptive infrastructure, and responsive building systems to enhance operational efficiency and long-term urban sustainability.
